This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones we use on The Private Market Club website, and what each one does. We have designed this site to use as few cookies as possible, in keeping with our commitment to member privacy.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in — to make the site work correctly and improve your experience.
Cookies can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (stored on your device until they expire or are deleted).
Cookies we use
We use two categories of cookies: essential cookies that are necessary for the site to function, and analytics cookies that help us understand how the site is being used.
| Cookie | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-access-token | Essential | Keeps you logged in to the members' area. Set by Supabase authentication. Without this cookie, you would need to sign in on every page. | 1 hour (refreshed automatically) |
| sb-refresh-token | Essential | Allows your session to be refreshed automatically so you remain logged in. Set by Supabase authentication. | 60 days |
| localStorage (pmc_plausible_url) | Essential | Stores the Plausible dashboard URL for the admin panel. Only present for the host account. Not a cookie — stored in browser localStorage. | Until cleared |
| Plausible Analytics | Analytics | Plausible is a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It does not use cookies and does not collect any personal data or track you across websites. It counts page views using anonymised data only. | No cookie set |
What we do not use
We do not use:
- Advertising or marketing cookies
- Social media tracking cookies
- Third-party profiling cookies
- Cross-site tracking of any kind
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar tracking technology.
Essential cookies and consent
The authentication cookies set by Supabase are strictly necessary for the members' area to function. Under UK law, strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent. You cannot opt out of these cookies and continue to use the logged-in areas of the site.
If you are only browsing the public pages of the site (homepage, membership information, apply form), no cookies are set beyond those required for basic page functionality.
Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- See what cookies are stored and delete them individually
- Block cookies from specific or all websites
- Set your browser to alert you when a cookie is being set
Please note that blocking or deleting essential cookies will prevent you from accessing the members' area. For guidance on managing cookies in your browser, visit aboutcookies.org.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, particularly if we introduce new functionality to the site. The current version will always be at privatemarketclub.com/cookies.html.
